Kareena Kapoor, nicknamed "Bebo" (born September 21, 1980 in Mumbai, India) is a Bollywood actress. She is part of the famous Kapoor family.
Biography
Kareena wanted to be a lawyer and after completing her 12th Standard she took an admission in Government Law College at Churchgate. But being a Kapoor she couldn’t resist her acting talent. And after completing a year she moved on to Bollywood.

Kareena Kapoor is the daughter of Randhir Kapoor and Babita, who divorced when she was still young. Rishi Kapoor is one of her uncles. Her sister, Karisma Kapoor, is also an actress. Her other relatives include maternal aunt Sadhana, and cousins Shivani Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor and Nikhil Nanda.
Career
Her first movie was J. P. Dutta's 2000 film Refugee. Her first major success in a starring role was in the 2001 Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai.
Her other notable roles include "Pooja" in the inter-generational melodrama Kabhi Kushi Kabhie Gham (2001), "Kaurwaki" in Asoka (2001), the title role in Chameli (2003), in which she plays a prostitute, a manipulative villain in Fida (2004) and a riot victim in Dev (2004), for which she won the Filmfare Critics Award Best Performance.
Controversies
A passerby with a camera phone filmed Kareena kissing her boyfriend Shahid Kapoor (in a hotel's public area) and released the video. A Mumbai newspaper (Midday) published stills from the video. Kareena and Shahid at first denied that the pictures were of them, but later reversed themselves and complained of an invasion of privacy. citation needed

Trivia
Though she debuted in Refugee, it was the third movie she signed. She first started work on Ajnabee. She shot for Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai for six days, then walked out of the project. Due to technical diffuculties Refugee was released before Ajnabee.
Kapoor sang for herself on the song "Jab Nahin Ayete Tum", for the movie Dev. This is unusual; most songs are sung by playback singers. The song was a pop hit. |
