Katrina Kaif is a model and Bollywood actress. One of nine siblings,she was born to a Kashmiri father and English mother. She started modeling by accident when she was in Hawaii. She was 14 and she was approached for a jewelery campaign. After that she continued modeling in London. Even though she was brought up in Hawaii, moving to Mumbai was not a culture shock.

Film maker Kaizad Gustad discovered Katrina in London and gave her a part in his film Boom. It wasn’t long before the acting bug bit Katrina who decided to take it up full time and move permanently to Mumbai. With her gorgeous face and hourglass figure, Katrina was flooded with modeling assignments from the minute she arrived. However, filmmakers were at first hesitant to sign her because of her linguistic shortcomings.

Personal life
Her mother is English and father a NRI originally from Kashmir. She was born in Hong Kong, grew up in Hawaii and London. She has seven sisters. She is currently dating actor Salman Khan.

Career
She worked as a photographic model in advertising before entering the film world.
Katrina debuted in the film Boom, which featured her as a supermodel. She has done two Telugu movies - Malliswari(2004) and Allari Pidugu(2005). In 2005 she starred in Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya opposite Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen and had a role in Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar. She was also chosen for role of Radha in Ram Gopal Varma ke Sholay, but was subsequently dropped and role was given to Sushmita Sen. In 2006, she debuted in Malayalam Cinema through the Mammootty starrer Balram v/s Tharadas
Her voice is also being dubbed by another actress, due to her unfamiliarity with Hindi. She will be using her own voice in her next film.
